Plaza Create Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President:
Yasuhiro Oshima) and DDI Pocket (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Chairman:
Hareo Taneno, President: Takeshi Okada) have joined together to launch
an official contents service for the latest DDI Pocket model, the
PHS (Personal Handy-Phone System) handset "feel H'' (feel edge)" as
well as the PHS handset "H'' (edge)".
The number of subscribers to the DDI Pocket portable telephone handset
internet access service, "H'' LINK (edge link)" has risen to around
2,500,000 people at the current time, and its popularity has earned
it the top share in the PHS market, that it's even in comparison to
the mobile telephone, J-PHONE'S J-Sky service is achieving popularity
with around 3,500,000 subscribers. Moreover, the PHS is superior in
data communication and compared to the mobile telephone, the PHS has
the distinction of a higher percentage of users who use the e-mail
and contents service more than the standard telephone service. In
particular, the use of the contents service has reached a figure of
over 50%.
From December DDI Pocket will launch sales of the new model "feel
H''(feel edge)", a more advanced version of the existing "H''(edge)"
model, which has such varied features as the high resolution of color
pictures, the superior quality of sound, and the picture capture application
of the exclusive portable digital camera contributes to enrich the
contents service.
In this period, "feel H'' (feel edge)" model hits the market, the
contents to which Plaza Create has contributed services are the exclusive
1 menu service for the "feel H '' (feel edge)" model and the 2 menu
service for the "H ''(edge)" model. It is possible to use the "H''(edge)"
customized service menu with the "feel H''(feel edge)" model.
¡"Let's Print" ("feel H''(feel edge)" customized contents
service)
The distinguishing feature of the "feel H''(feel edge)" model is the
service using the picture capture application. An exclusive picture
capture (a digital camera sold separately) is connected to the PHS,
the picture taken by the PHS is then uploaded by accessing the "Let's
Print" service in the contents menu. By following the instructions
which appear on the PHS' liquid crystal display panel, a business
card-size assembled photograph complete with a message (customized
message) can be ordered. This service means that having taken a picture
of everyone's face and transmitting, one print can be made (photocard).
The print will be delivered to the designated destination such as
the user's home, etc. Use of the contents service is free. Delivery
of the print costs \700 for 5 copies, \1,200 for 10 cards, \1,700
for 15 cards and \2,100 for 20 cards.
This service is provided by Plaza Create Group's Network Labo Co.,
Ltd. The visual data is sent from the PHS to be processed and printed
as a product at Network Labo Co., Ltd. The picture is up to 8 comas
per shot.
¡"Make Up Rubyring"
This service makes it possible for you to use your own PHS to dress
and redress the Shinko Music owned "Rubyring-chan", a hugely popular
character amongst young women. It is possible to make up Rubyring
by freely changing her cute and fashionable accessories, ear-rings,
hair wigs, sunglasses, etc. The finished Rubyring can be sent as an
attached file to friends by e-mail.
This contents service is supplied for the price of \200 per month.
¡"Dot Comu"
Although this is a so-called "meeting site", this is a new content
which uses a PHS location information application unique to DDI Pocket.
When the user accesses the "Dot Comu" site, a BBS composed of messages
from other users who have recently written on the board in the user's
current area appears on the display panel. If you choose an appropriate
person from these messages, you can send them not just an e-mail,
but you can also play "Tug-of-War" and a game of "Bringing Up" an
icon child, which you have made together.
These are the first PHS user competitive games.
For example, if you access this site in Shibuya, you can play a game
with a person you have never met in the same area and if you are available
you can soon meet them. The price of this contents service is \300
per month.
